About Our Practice

Support for Teens and the Parents Who Love Them

Teen counseling at Shadetree gives adolescents a confidential, judgment-free space to work through identity questions, friendships, school stress, anxiety, and big emotions. We also help parents understand what their teen may not yet have words for.

You may have noticed changes at home: quieter conversations, more conflict, shifts in mood, or a sense that your teen is somewhere you can't reach. These shifts are often developmental and often navigable with the right support.

The fact that you are here means you love your teen. That love is the most important starting point.

Common Reasons Families Seek Teen Counseling

Every teen and every family is different. If any of these resonate, you and your teen are not alone.

Identity and Purpose

Hard questions about who they are, what they believe, and where they are going after high school.

Friendships and Belonging

Social struggles, shifting friend groups, feeling left out, or the pressure to fit in at school or online.

Parent-Teen Communication

Conversations that keep going sideways, silent treatment, or topics that feel too risky to raise at home.

School Stress and Time Management

Academic pressure, procrastination, burnout, test anxiety, or struggles balancing school, activities, and rest.

Anxiety and Big Emotions

Persistent worry, panic, anger, or emotions that feel too big to manage on their own.

Social Media and Screen Pressure

The comparison trap, online drama, unhealthy habits, or content that is shaping them in ways you both want to address.

Family Transitions

Divorce, blended families, grief, a move, or any family shift that is hitting your teen hard.

Faith Questions

Doubt, spiritual curiosity, or tension between what they believe and what they see around them.

Whatever your teen is facing, we meet them where they are, without judgment.

We bring together three powerful lenses to help you experience lasting transformation, not just symptom management.

Your teen is made in God's image, and His grace is sufficient. Scripture speaks to identity, belonging, and purpose in ways that meet teens without lecturing them.

Clinical Excellence

Trained in evidence-based approaches for anxiety, mood, and adolescent development, we help teens understand their patterns and build practical skills they can use right away.

Temperament-Informed Insight

Understanding your teen's God-given temperament changes everything. Empathy and understanding grow as you see how they are wired and what they need to thrive.

Ask Us Anything

Most teens surprise themselves and their parents. Our counselors are trained to build rapport on the teen's terms, earning trust over time. We don't force conversation or push.

Usually the teen meets with their counselor privately so they can speak freely. Parents are looped in with general updates and occasional joint sessions, while honoring the teen's confidentiality within ethical limits.

That is common. We can start with a consultation for parents only, or set up a low-pressure first session where the teen sets the pace. Building trust is the first win.

Every teen is different. Some make meaningful progress in 6-8 sessions. Others benefit from longer-term support through a specific season. Your counselor will check in regularly on goals and pace.

Yes. We offer secure video sessions for teens who prefer meeting from a familiar space. Online counseling is just as effective as in-person sessions and gives you flexibility without sacrificing quality.

We integrate faith, clinical training, and temperament science in a way few practices do. We don't just manage symptoms. We help you understand the deeper patterns at work. And because we're Christ-centered, we believe real, lasting transformation is always possible.
